Why would you want a hydraulic multiplier? Tractors are amazing machines, but many of the attachments used on them have hydraulic components. Or, you want to run a hydraulic top and tilt kit which requires extra hydraulic remotes. Most tractors don’t come with any extra remotes or one rear remote at best. If you want to run a hydraulic top and tilt kit plus have 3-point attachments with hydraulic functions such as an angling blade, hydraulic chute control on a snowblower, or many other attachments, then you need more than one rear remote. This is very expensive to take to a dealer to install and many times they can only install 2 or 3 total rear remotes which may not be enough. This is where a hydraulic multiplier can help.
What is a hydraulic multiplier? To put it simply, it is a valve system that multiplies your existing rear remote into 2, 3, 4, or 6 rear remotes. The hydraulic multiplier will plug into the rear remote on your tractor. If you don’t have a rear remote, then you can purchase one of these from Summit as well. This becomes the cheapest method to add extra rear remotes to your tractor. Depending on the size of the multiplier purchased will determine how many hydraulic functions can be plugged in at one time. I normally recommend the 6-port multiplier as it is the best value. You’ll never run out of ports. I’ve used all six before by having a hydraulic top link and hydraulic tilt link which take two ports. My 3-point snowblower required three as well for the chute rotation, deflector adjustment, and backdrag height adjustment. Or, you could use a rear blade that hydraulically angles, tilts, and offsets. These items take three ports. For the final port, I use a hydraulic skid steer quick attach on the loader or you could even run a 3rd function up front for an angle blade, grapple, or loader-mounted auger.
How do you assemble and install a hydraulic multiplier? The hydraulic multiplier kit consists of a block of valve bodies along with corresponding solenoids. A simple pre-made wiring harness with switches is included as well. The hydraulic multiplier will ship unassembled, but you’re simply threading parts together, plugging in hoses and a wiring harness, and bolting or screwing to your tractor. We normally plug into the 12v convenience outlet to power the solenoid and switch box. It’s very easy to do. Instructions will be included with your hydraulic multiplier kit. If you need additional hoses to connect the multiplier to the rear remote, then you can buy these from Summit as well.
