Tips For Clearing Snow on Gravel Drives
These extra wide skid shoes will help your snow pusher rest higher on your gravel than without them. Still, take into consideration any driveway or roadway crown, as the middle of the pusher will still clip high points in your driveway or road. It’s best to push along one side of the crown and then the other, rather than straight down the middle.
For best results, set your Extra Wide Skid Runners in their lowest position (bolts at the very top of the slots), and raise your cutting edge higher than flush with the frame. Inevitably, the pusher will still sink into your gravel in places, and this positioning will better prevent the collection of gravel as you drive.
Lastly, we have found that a leaving a little bit of snow (a half inch to an inch) on top of the gravel is okay, and is the best way to balance clearing snow, but leaving gravel. This is especially true in those shoulder seasons where the gravel isn’t quite frozen.
